Radford Too Much for Lady Bobcats

The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats opened 2007 with a road contest at Radford University, falling 90-37 to the Division I Lady Highlanders. The Lady Bobcats fall to 2-5 on the season while Radford evens their record at 6-6.

Serena White led the home side with a game high 20 points while Corrie Fertitta added a double double contributing 17 points and hauling down a game high 10 rebounds. Dianca Jones led the Lady Bobcats with a team high 14 points, as the Lady Highlanders held LMC leading scorer Stephanie Mullinax in check, giving up two points to the junior forward. Eariel Gholson saw her first action of the season, registering seven points.

Radford shot a season high 55 percent from the field, its first time over 50 percent this season, and tied a season best with nine three's (9-18). They continued to force the Lady Bobcats to make mistakes, capitalizing on 28 LMC turnovers for 37 points. Radford also held Lees-McRae to 29 percent shooting from the field and 15 percent from beyond the arc.

The Lady Bobcats will return to Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference play Saturday, hosting Mount Olive. Tip off at Williams Gymnasium is set for 2:00pm.
