The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats basketball team handed Coker College their sixth straight loss, 67-55, Saturday afternoon in Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference action. The win improves the Lady Bobcats record to 5-9, (3-6 CVAC) while the Lady Cobras fall to 3-13, (1-8 CVAC).
The Lady Cobras came out strong and took the early lead thanks to some hot shooters. The Lady Cobras shot 48 percent in the first, compared to the Lady Bobcats 30 percent. The first half would end 30-25 favoring Coker.
The second half was all Lees-McRae, as the Lady Bobcats found their stroke and shot 47 percent in the second half, including seven for nine from beyond the arc, outscoring the Lady Cobras 42-25 for the second straight win.
India Elliott led Coker with a game high 21 points, while Lotta Aaltonen contributed 11.
Taukia Hughes, (pictured top left), led the Lady Bobcats with 16 points and three rebounds while Cameron Crapps chipped in 13 and a pair of rebounds. Dianca Jones managed 11 points, four assists and a trio of rebounds while Stephanie Mullinax added ten and a game high five rebounds.
The Lady Bobcats will go for three in a row when they travel to
Converse College Tuesday evening, for the return date of a home and
home non-conference season series. The Lady Bobcats won their
first meeting earlier this season 67-61 at Williams Gymnasium. Tip
off is set for 6:00pm.
