The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats fell 81-73 to Coker College Saturday afternoon in Carolinas Virginia Athletic Conference action at Williams Gymnasium. The Lady Bobcats fall to 10-17, (8-12 CVAC) while the Lady Cobras improve their record to 7-20, (5-15 CVAC).
The Lady Bobcats honored seniors Taukia Hughes, Amber Benfield, Amanda Huffaker and Dianca Jones prior to tip off. The Lady Bobcats will get another shot at the Lady Cobras Monday evening when the teams battle once again at Williams Gymnasium in the first round of the CVAC Tournament.
The Lady Cobras had four players scoring in double digits with Rebecca Kolbeck leading the way with 23 points. Henna Koponen chipped in 17 while India Elliot and Temeca Spain contributed 14 points respectively. Spain also added a game high 15 rebounds while Kolbeck pulled down 12 boards.
Jones, (pictured top left), led the Lady Bobcats in scoring with 26 points, nine rebounds and a game high four steals. In the last five games, Jones has averaged 27 points while going 47 for 50 from the charity stripe. Hughes was the only other Lady Bobcat scoring in double digits with ten.
Tip off for Monday playoff game is set for 7:00pm.
