Lady Bobcats Fall in Conference Play

Laurinburg, NC--On the road at St. Andrews in Laurinburg, NC in their first game of '08 the Lady Bobcats fell to the Lady Knights 82-65. The loss leaves the Lees-McRae women with a 3-2 Conference Carolinas record (3-7 overall) while St. Andrews gained their first conference win (1-2) and stands at 2-7 overall.

Although the Lady Bobcats grabbed the lead twice in the first three minutes of the men's & women's double header, the Lady Knights proved too much for the Bobcats to handle. St. Andrews capitalized on a series of missed shots and turnovers to gain a 16 point lead at the 13:11 mark.

The Lady Bobcats continued to battle, whittling the lead back down to eight after field goals by both Brittany and Renee Roberson (Salisbury, NC). St. Andrews, however, built the lead back up to fifteen, settling for an 11 point half-time lead.

The Lady Knights, who saw five players on the court for more than thirty minutes each, four scoring in double figures, never backed down, charging to a commanding 20 point lead half way through the second half. They finished the game 17 points ahead of the visiting Lady Bobcats for a decisive 82-65 victory on their home court.

Leading the way for Lees-McRae was junior Brittany Roberson with a double-double (23 points, 11 rebounds). Also in double figures for the Bobcats was senior Stephanie Mullinax (Etowah, TN) with 13.

The Lady Knights were led by senior Danielle Norman (Bronx, NY) with 18 points. Teammates Jacquelyn Adcock, D. Jones (Damascus, MD), and April Johnson (Mccoll, SC) chipped in 16, 14, and 12 respectively.

The Lady Bobcats return home to host conference foe Queens University on Wednesday, January 9th. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
