Lady Bobcats Sign Kayla Newman

Banner Elk, N.C.--Head Women's Basketball Coach Sebastian Wild announced the addition of Kayla Newman to the Women's Basketball program today. Newman signed a Letter of Intent and will suit up in the Green and Gold starting in the fall.

"Kayla has the ability to change the fortune of our program singlehandedly, that's how talented she is," commented Wild. "We are absolutely ecstatic about Kayla joining our program."

Newman (Charlotte, NC) is a 6'1 forward who just completed her high school career at basketball powerhouse Butler, leading them to a 26 - 4 record and a Conference regular season and Conference Tournament Championship as their lone senior. She averaged 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals per game last season and her performance was honored with an All Conference selection.

"Kayla is a tremendous athlete. You combine that with her well developed skill set and it is really scary to think about what she is capable of doing on the court," stated Head Coach Sebastian Wild. "She can guard any position on the floor and is a perfect fit for our up-tempo style of play."

Kayla Newman joins Emari Ready (Midlothian, VA), Amber Coleman (Alexandria, VA), Nicole Jackson (Amelia, VA), and Lauren Casey (Raleigh, NC) as the fifth signee of this year's class. "We couldn't be happier at this point," said Wild about his recruiting class. "This could potentially become something very special."
