BANNER ELK, NC - After already adding five players to his 2008-09 roster Head Women's Basketball Coach Sebastian Wild announced the addition of another player this week. Jazzmin Tate will join the Lady Bobcat lineup this coming Fall after a great high school career.
Tate, a 5'10 forward completed her high school career at Broome HS in Pacolet, SC. During her high school career Tate won four Regional Championships, three 2A Upper State Championships, and had three 2A State Championship game appearances with 1 victory. Tate was named to the All-Region Selection her 11th and 12th grade seasons. As a senior, Jazzmin helped lead Broome HS to a Regional Championship with a record of 19-8. She also earned two All-star selections on the Spartanburg County team. Tate holds the record for the most rebounds in a season with a total of 311 in 27 games, an average of 11.5 rebounds per game. She is also the Broome girl's basketball player with the most victories in the program's history at 88. An outstanding student, Tate has been an active member of the Student Government, German Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was also the Vice President of her junior class. Jazzmin received a Marine Core Athlete Scholarship and was invited into the National Technical Honor Society from the Daniel Morgan Vocational Center. She has also been involved in the community working with the Spartanburg Children's Shelter and Broome High School's Kudza Site.
"Jazzmin will provide much needed toughness for the front court. Her rebounding ability will help us tremendously; something we were lacking last season. She is in no way a one dimensional player, and will fit in very well in our system." stated Wild. "It is because of Student-Athletes like Jazzmin, that we cannot wait to start our new campaign in the Fall."
Thus far this year's Recruiting class includes G Emari Ready (Midlothian, VA), G Amber Coleman (Alexandria, VA), G Nicole Jackson (Amelia, VA), F Kayla Newman (Charlotte, NC), G/F Lauren Casey (Raleigh, NC), and F Jazzmin Tate (Pacolet, SC).
