GAFFNEY, S.C.-The Limestone College Lady Saints (6-4, 4-1) defeated the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats (5-5, 3-2) 85-62 in a Conference Carolinas game Thursday night at the Timken Center.
Lees-McRae's Ashley Holland (Spartanburg, S.C.) scored a
game-high 22 points, and Lauren Casey (Raleigh, N.C.) scored 15
points. Casey also grabbed a team high nine rebounds.
Lady Saint Addie Graves recorded a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Blanca Gonzalez chipped in 17 points, six boards, and four steals, while Lauren Pace scored 15 points. Whitney Todd also reached double-scoring figures with 10 points and dished out five assists. Breanna Ray led Limestone with six assists.
Lees-McRae gained a four-point lead, 13-9, in the first eight minutes of the game, but two layups from Graves tied the score 13-13. A three-pointer from Limestone's Ray gave the Lady Saints the lead. Limestone went on to outscore the Bobcats 29-20 in the final ten minutes of the period for the 46-33 advantage at halftime.
Limestone kept control of the game in the second half and never relinquished the lead as it outscored the visitors 39-29 during the final period for the victory.
The Lady Saints shot 50 percent from the field, 33-66, compared to Lees-McRae's 41.1 percent, 23-56. The Bobcats edged Limestone 33-31 on rebounds.
The Lady Bobcats will look to rebound as Barton visits Williams Gymnasium Saturday, January 10th at 2 p.m.
