Erskine Escapes Lees-McRae, 92-84

Due West, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats (5-9, 3-6) lost to the Erskine College Flying Fleet (9-5, 5-4), 92-84, in a Conference Carolinas game Monday night.

The first half was tightly contested with three ties and six lead changes. But, Erskine was able to break from the Bobcats and take a nine point lead, 51-40, into halftime.

The Fleet extended their lead to 20, 80-60, but with a little over eight minutes left in regulation, the Bobcats cut into Erskine's lead, yet couldn't complete the comeback and fell, 92-84.

Lees-McRae's Ashley Holland (Duncan, S.C.) led all scorers with 36 points. Holland also pulled down ten rebounds giving her a double-double on the evening. Lauren Casey (Raleigh, N.C.) also earned a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Cortney Furr (Concord, N.C.) added 14 points and three rebounds to the Bobcat cause.

Erskine's Mary Ann Langford led the way for the Fleet tonight with 26 points and five rebounds. Audrey Timmerman had 19 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Neci Allen earned 17 points and gathered eight rebounds for Erskine.

The Lady Bobcats return to the hardwood Saturday afternoon against the Lady Cobras of Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. Tipoff for the Conference Carolinas game is set for 2 p.m.
