MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Lauren Casey's 28-point effort gave the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats a 84-70 win over the Pfeiffer University Lady Falcons and snapped a nine game skid Thursday night in a Conference Carolinas clash.
Ashley Holland scored 15 points to follow Casey's 28 points. Amber Coleman added 14 points and Cortney Furr chipped in with 12 points, all of which came from behind the three point line.
During the first half the two teams traded buckets with eight lead changes and nine ties.
Pfeiffer held a five point lead, 31-26, with 3:45 to play in the half before the Lady Bobcats went on a 6-0 run to take a 32-31 halftime lead. Casey had four of the six points during the streak.
The Lady Bobcats opened the second half on an 8-0 run with Casey knocking down a three pointer and two free throws to give the Bobcats a 40-31 lead.
Lees-McRae pushed the lead to 11, 53-42, with 12:54 to play on a Casey layup.
With 3:33 left on the clock, Holland drilled a three pointer to give Lees-McRae a 77-60 lead.
Less than a minute later, Furr knocked down a three to give the Lady Bobcats the largest lead of the game, 80-61.
Lees-McRae was 46 percent from the floor and 42 percent from behind the arc compared to Pfeiffer's 37 percent from the field and 26 percent from three point land.
The Lady Bobcats scored 21 points from the free throw line, 21-28, while the Lady Falcons were only 12-19 for 12 points.
Lees-McRae will tip off against St. Andrews in Williams Gymnasium Saturday at 2 p.m. in their next game.
