Casey Earns Conference Carolinas Player of the Week Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C.-- Lees McRae's Lauren Casey (7-14 overall, 5-11 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's basketball Player of the Week for week 11 of the 2008-2009 season.

Casey, a junior guard from Raleigh, N.C., led the Lady Bobcats to a 2-0 week and snapped a nine game losing skid.

Casey started the week with a career high 28-point performance on the road against Pfeiffer to give Lees-McRae an 84-70 win. She was 47 percent from the floor during the game and drained all eight of her free throws to propel the team.

In the second game of the week, Casey scored a team high 18 points in an 89-59 win over St. Andrews. During the game she went 42 percent from the floor and 66 percent from behind the three-point arc. She also dished out a career high seven assists and grabbed six rebounds.
