Head women's basketball coach Sebastian Wild announced the addition of two more student-athletes for the 2009-2010 roster to complete this year's Lady Bobcat recruiting class.
Colette Montgomery 5'10" Forward Atlanta, Ga. (Neosho Community College, KS)Colette will join the squad from Neosho Community College in
Kansas, where she started every game for Coach Tonika Bruce during
her only season with the Lady Panthers. She averaged 9.4 points per
game and added 8.5 rebounds per game and earned All-Conference
honors during the 2008-2009 season.
"Colette is a very physical player that will add a significant
punch to our front-court," Wild said. "She is extremely versatile
and athletic, but possesses a finesse, yet powerful offensive game.
She is capable of dominating on the defensive end whether it is on
the perimeter or in the paint. We expect Colette to take on a
leadership role, being one of the few veterans on our young and
talented team."
Sophie Witte 6'4" Forward / Center Hamburg,
Germany
Sophie comes to us from Hamburg, Germany, where she has been a
cornerstone for the German Under 18 National Selection Team since
2006. She recently competed for SV Alstertal-Langenhorn in the
Third German Division. During the 2008-2009 season, Sophie
averaged 12.6 points per game, as she led her team to a second
place finish in league play.
At 6'4", Sophie combines great size and length with a very refined
offensive game that should give the Lady Bobcats a long absent
scoring threat in the paint.
"Sophie has the potential to change everything for us," Wild said.
"It is not just her physical attributes that make her a unique
talent. She's fundamentally sound and gained valuable experiences
in international play which should allow her to have an immediate
impact on our program."
Montgomery and Witte completes the 2009 Lady Bobcat Basketball
recruiting class. They will join Icey Patterson (Seneca, SC),
Jessica Blair (Charlotte, NC), Zukye Smith (Chesterfield, VA),
Candace Flowers (Charlotte, NC), and Lauren Sorrell (Greenville,
SC) as the class of 2013.. Pictured: Head Coach Sebastian Wild
