GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats fell to the Limestone College Lady Saints, 62-39, Monday night in a Conference Carolinas women's basketball game.
The Lady Saints took off with a 17-4 run to start the game at the 13:57 mark. They pushed the lead to 20 points, 26-6, with 9:18 remaining in the half and finished the half up 38-19.
Lees-McRae was 33 percent from the floor and 11 percent from three in the first half, while Limestone was 55 percent overall and 37 percent from three.
In the second half, Limestone ran the lead to 25 points, 44-19, with 17:34 remaining in the game. Limestone took the lead to 57-28, 29 points, with just over five minutes remaining and won 62-39.
Lees-McRae shot 34 percent from the floor in the second half and missed their only two three attempts, while Limestone was 30 percent overall and 44 percent from three in the half.
Lauren Casey paced the Lady Bobcats with a game-high 21 points, a team-high six rebounds and five steals. Colette Montgomery followed with seven points. Candace Flowers also had five steals for the Lady Bobcats.
For Limestone, Tia Williams notched 14 points and four steals. Ashley Robinson had 11 points and Maria Young followed with ten points and a game-high eight rebounds. Lauren Pace had eight points and four assists for the Lady Saints.
Lees-McRae will travel to Queens Thursday for their next game with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
