BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's basketball program has released its 2018-19 regular season schedule, announced by head coach Keith Jennings on Friday (Sept. 14).
"Going into year two, I have high expectations for my team," said Jennings. "The ladies worked hard this summer and it's getting us off to a good start."
The season begins with a Division I exhibition at Appalachian State on Saturday, Nov. 3. From there, the Bobcats will begin the season in the Peach Belt-Conference Carolinas Challenge at Young Harris College on Nov. 9-10. On Nov. 9, LMC will battle host Young Harris before taking on North Georgia on the 10th.
"This season I'm looking for us to be tested early," said Jennings. "Division I Appalachian State will toughen us up early, and the trip to play North Georgia and Young Harris will definitely give us a look at some top teams in the country."
After the conference crossover, the Bobcats will return to the mountain for a four-game non-conference homestand. The home opener will be a non-conference contest with Catawba College on Nov. 15, before hosting Livingstone College on the 17th, Newberry College on the 24th and Montreat College on the 26th.
"I wanted our non-conference schedule to be tough and get us ready for our conference play," said Jennings.
The Bobcats will open Conference Carolinas play on Dec. 1 when they travel to Emmanuel College, before welcoming Limestone College on Dec 4.
"The conference opener at Emmanuel will be very tough before we come back home to play Limestone," said Jennings. "There are no easy games in our conference so every game will be a challenge."
LMC will take on a second Division I exhibition on Dec. 6 when they travel to UNC Greensboro, before returning to conference play at the University of Mount Olive on Dec. 8. A Dec. 12 date with Southern Wesleyan University kicks off a three-game home slate that also includes North Greenville University (Dec. 15) and Lenoir-Rhyne University (Dec. 18).
LMC will return from winter break to jump right back into conference play at Barton College on Jan. 2, 2019 before hosting Belmont Abbey College on Jan. 5. Jan. 8 marks an away trip to Erskine College, before LMC hosts Emmanuel on the Jan. 12 to kick off another three-game homestand. King University (Tenn.) comes to town on Jan. 16, followed by Mount Olive on Jan. 19. The Bobcats will travel to Southern Wesleyan on Jan. 21, before going to North Greenville on Jan. 26.
Converse College will venture up the mountain to begin the month of February (Feb. 2), before LMC travels to Limestone on Feb. 6. The Bobcats will take on Bluefield state on the road on Feb. 9, before returning to conference play at King on Feb. 13. Barton treks to Banner Elk on Feb. 16, before LMC hosts Erskine on Feb. 20. The final two regular season games are on the road at Belmont Abbey on Feb. 23 and at Converse on Feb. 26.
The Conference Carolinas quarterfinal round will be played on Mar. 4, while the semifinals will take place on Mar. 7. The championship will be played on Mar. 8.
