Jaterra Hurst enters her third season as Lees-McRae's assistant women's basketball coach in 2019-20.

Hurst was named the new Lees-McRae assistant women's basketball coach by head coach Keith 'Mister' Jennings on July 27, 2017. Hurst, who is a former women's basketball player at Belmont Abbey, brings over six seasons of coaching experience with her to Lees-McRae.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to work under Coach Jennings and at Lees-McRae," said Hurst. "Coach Jennings has so much experience that he can share with myself and our team. I look forward to starting this journey with him and doing great things with the program. We look forward to a great start to the year and a great start to the season as we take the women's basketball program to another level."

In her most recent coaching assignment, Hurst was the assistant women's basketball coach at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. Hurst planned and coordinated practices, maintained and ran all of the team's different social media accounts, while also being involved in recruiting. Additionally, Hurst stepped into the role of Head Coach at the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) tournament in absence of head coach during her tenure.

In addition to her coaching experience with Agnes Scott College, Hurst has also been an assistant coach for the Douglasville Lady Tigers since the summer of 2016. In her role with the Lady Tigers, Hurst completed daily activity reports, interacted with coaches and athletes at tournaments, coordinated and participated in fundraising efforts for the team and managed team equipment and apparel.

"Jaterra is going to be a great asset to our program," said Jennings. "Her willingness to make sure she makes a difference on and off the court has me very excited."

Hurst graduated with a bachelor's degree from Belmont Abbey in 2014. In 2016, Hurst added a master's degree in sports administration from Georgia State.
