The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats dropped a 22-2 decision to Gannon University Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Lady Knights from Gannon, who improved to 2-0, entered the game ranked eighth in the nation, marking the second straight game against a nationally ranked opponent for the Lady Bobcats, who fell to 0-4.
Joanna Culkin led a balanced attack for the Lady Knights with
four goals. Shannon Pagano, Krista Schunk, and Taryn Millerd all
recorded hat tricks with three goals each.
Melissa Hill and Colleen Dixon chipped in a pair while five others tallied singles.
Olivia Maurey picked up seven saves in the Lady Bobcats goal while Laura Hawthorne, (pictured top left), scoring her first collegiate goal, and Marjie Lesser found the back of the net for the Lady Bobcats.
The game, held at CVAC member Limestone College, was the first of two on a neutral field for the Lady Bobcats this season. Sunday afternoon the Lady Bobcats will return to Limestone to take on Regis (CO) University at 1:00pm.
