Lady Bobcats Fall to Queens

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats dropped a 20-9 contest to the Queens University of Charlotte Royals Thursday evening in Conference Carolinas first round tournament action. The win improved the Royals to 11-6 and moved them into Conference Carolinas semi finals against Belmont Abbey College while the Lady Bobcats end their season at 1-15.

Queens held a 10-goal lead, 16-6, after the first 30 minutes of play. After going on a 6-0 run to start the game, Queens found the Lady Bobcats within three with 11 minutes remaining in the half. Amanda Mahle countered the Lees-McRae's attempts to overtake the Royals with three consecutive goals. In the game, Mahle had three goals and one assist.

The second had much less scoring action as Queens notched four and Lees-McRae had three.

Alyssa Hughes led the Royals with four goals, while Kelley Duffey led the team in points with six, three goals and three assists.

Desiree Cox led the Lady Bobcats in scoring with five goals and finishes the season with a school record 75 goals. Amelia Henson added a pair for the Lady Bobcats while Clair Shaw and Cloe Klaus chipped in singles.
