Chase Wins Game Against Former Coach: Lady Bobcats Top Valkyries, 21-3

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's lacrosse team (1-2, 1-2) picked up their first win of the 2009 season with a 21-3 win over the Converse College Valkyries (0-1, 0-1) Saturday afternoon.

Sisters Desiree Cox, who scored five goals and had an assist, and Cheryse Cox, who scored four goals, led Lees-McRae. Tiffany Paris and Clair Shaw added three goals apiece. Nine of the 12 Lady Bobcats scored a goal in the game. Julia Campbell and Abbey White had three draw controls. Desiree led the team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Lees-McRae scored the first five goals of the game in the first half, with the first one coming four seconds into the game when Paris scored on a Shaw assist.

After Converse notched their first goal with 22:37 left in the half, the Lady Bobcats scored 11 unanswered goals before the half.

Converse scored the first goal of the second half, before the Lady Bobcats answered with four more goals.

After another Converse goal Anna DeLuke added the final goal of the game with 30 seconds remaining to give the game the final score of 21-3.

Lees-McRae will travel to Erskine College Saturday, February 28th for their next game
