Pfeiffer Ends Lees-McRae's Season

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats season ended in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament with a 19-8 loss to the Pfeiffer University Lady Falcons Wednesday afternoon in women's lacrosse action.

The Lady Bobcats end their season with a 6-12 overall record and a 2-10 conference record. The team's six wins is a new school record for wins in a single season, and the two conference wins are another school record for conference wins in a season.

Desiree Cox and sister Cheryse Cox scored three goals in today's game. Tiffany Paris and Abby White added the other two goals for the Lady Bobcats. Paris, Julia Campbell and Kelly Mendsen picked up two groundballs apiece. Paris and Cheryse Cox had a team high four groundballs, and White caused a team high four turnovers.

Desiree finishes the season currently ranked second in the nation in goals per game with 64 goals in 15 games for an average of 4.27 goals per game. She is fourth in the nation in points with 76, 64 goals and 12 assists. All stats are as of Sunday, April 12th.

The Lady Bobcats fell behind early surrendering 11 first half goals while only scoring three. Lees-McRae bounced back with five second half goals, but yielded eight goals to suffer the 19-8 loss.

Pfeiffer outshot Lees-McRae 42-17 and won the groundball battle 22-12. Pfeiffer also won 17 draw controls compared to 12 for Lees-McRae.
