BOONE, N.C. --- Five members of the fourth-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse scored at least two goals to lead the Dolphins to a 20-1 win over Lees-McRae College on Thursday afternoon on the campus of Watauga High School.
The Dolphins (3-0) outshot the Bobcats (2-2) by a 44-2 margin, while holding a 28-19 advantage in ground balls and converting each of their 12 clear attempts on the day. Mia Valletta (Niskayuna, N.Y.) paced Le Moyne with four goals, while Stephanie Dussing (Syracuse, N.Y.) added a hat trick. Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y.), Leah Lazarz (Liverpool, N.Y.), and Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y.) each tallied two goals, while Bauer and Kelly Condon (Victor, N.Y.) both added three assists.
Emily Guenthner (Nampa, Idaho) tallied the Bobcats' goal off an assist from Ellie Psillas (Hagerstown, Md.), as Taylor Moody (Woodstock, Ga.) posted 11 saves for Lees-McRae. Moody also recorded a game-high four ground balls for the Bobcats.
Le Moyne opened the game with four straight goals, taking an early 4-0 lead on Valletta's third of the afternoon at the 21:24 mark before Guenthner cut the margin to 4-1 with her second tally of the campaign with just over 20 minutes left in the half. Le Moyne responded with five goals over the remainder of the half to take a 9-1 lead into the intermission.
The Dolphins put the game out of reach early in the second half, netting four goals in the first seven and a half minutes to push the lead to 13-1. The Bobcats battled throughout the game, forcing 14 Le Moyne turnovers and limiting the Dolphins to a 3-for-8 clip on free position shots.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Thursday, Mar. 17 when the Bobcats host Tiffin University in a non-conference matchup at 5 p.m. on Tate Field.
