BELMONT, N.C. --- The Belmont Abbey College women's lacrosse team outscored Lees-McRae College by a 13-2 margin in the first half en route to an 18-6 victory in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon.

Belmont Abbey (2-5, 2-1 CC) outshot the Bobcats (2-4, 0-2 CC) by a 39-15 margin on the day, while posting a 42-26 advantage in ground balls and converting 13-of-18 clear attempts. Morgan Cross (Shady Side, Md.) and Laura Dowd (Davidsonville, Md.) both tallied a hat trick for the Abbey, while Emily Hudgins (Crownsville, Md.), Susan Killeavy (Austin, Texas), Lindsay Connelly (Davidsonville, Md.), and Rebecca Diggs (Severna Park, Md.) each notched two goals. Tory Morgan (Oak Hill, Va.) allowed six goals and made six saves between the pipes for the Crusaders.

Emily Guenthner (Nampa, Idaho) continued her torrid goal-scoring tear with her second straight hat trick, swelling her season total to eight tallies. Katelin Rooney (Naples, Fla.), Olivia Gudewich (Frederick, Md.), and Jody Parlier (Banner Elk, N.C.) each found the back of the net for the Bobcats, as Taylor Moody (Woodstock, Ga.) made 17 saves in goal.

Belmont Abbey jumped out to an early 7-0 in the first 11 minutes before the Bobcats answered, trimming the margin to 7-1 on Gudewich's team-leading 15th goal of the season at the 19:36 mark. After the Abbey added a trio of quick scores, Guenthner found the back of the net at the 14:26 mark for her first tally of the day. The Abbey then closed out the half with a trio of goals to take a 13-2 advantage into the intermission.

The Bobcats kept pace with the Abbey in the second half, tallying four goals to Belmont Abbey's five. After the Abbey opened the period with a pair of tallies, Parlier netted the Bobcats' second shorthanded goal of the afternoon at the 17:48 mark for her first score of the season. Rooney and Guenthner then scored 30 seconds apart at the 10:47 and 10:17 marks, respectively, before Guenthner capped the LMC scoring with 2:52 to play.

Lees-McRae returns to action on Wednesday, Mar. 30 when the Bobcats host Limestone College to continue their conference schedule at 4 p.m. on Tate Field.
