Women's Lacrosse Downed at Coker, 18-7

HARTSVILLE, S.C. --- Junior Taylor Drake scored four goals while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-7 decision at Coker Saturday afternoon at Byerly Park in Hartsville, S.C.

The Cobras (1-1) had a quartet of players with a hat trick, led by Claudia Jenkins' six-goal outburst. The Bobcats' (0-2) goalie Mia Emmerson (Jupiter, Fla.) amassed 13 saves.

CC raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first 11:22 minutes while Mackenzie Baker notched three goals.

Freshman standout Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) got LMC on the board with a goal at the 11:34 mark.

Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) tallied her first goal 65 seconds later.

Junior Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) chimed in with a pair of goals in a 62-second span to cut the deficit to four, 8-4.

The Cobras responded with a trio of goals to grab an 11-4 lead going into halftime.

The first 30 minutes proved to be a bit rough while both teams committed at least 10 fouls. CC outshot LMC 33-12.

Drake accounted for all three of LMC's second-half goals. She paced the Bobcat squad with five groundballs.

Jenkins led both teams with seven groundballs and 11 shots, including 10 on goal.

CC's goalie Cierra Davis stopped seven shots on the afternoon.

The Bobcats will enjoy a 17-day break before traveling to UVa.-Wise Wednesday, March 4 at 4 p.m. in Wise, Va.
