DUE WEST, S.C. --- The freshmen duo of Peyton LeCompte and Tiffany Laster combined for 11 goals while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team dominated Erskine, 21-12, in a Conference Carolinas game Saturday morning at Huggins Field in Due West, S.C.
The Bobcats (1-2, 1-0 CC) won their first conference game since April 11, 2011 (vs. Erskine, 22-14) while going 19-for-19 in clear attempts. The Flying Fleet (1-4, 1-1) saw Samantha Burns explode for six goals.
LMC scored five goals a man-up after EC's Alexandria Butler was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct with 12:41 remaining in the second.
LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) notched two early goals and Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) contributed two assists while the Bobcats held a 4-1 lead after 9:55 of action.
EC converted two free position attempts in an 11-second span, cutting the deficit to 4-3.
Drake sparked a 5-1 run with three goals and an assist. The junior scored all three goals in 53 seconds and finished with four goals and four assists on the day.
Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) dished an assist to LeCompte in front of the net with 10 seconds remaining in the first half, giving LMC the 11-6 lead at the break.
LeCompte led Coach Ray Cameron's squad with 11 shots and tied Callie Gregg (Roanoke, Va.) with five draw controls.
Gregg impressed with three goals and three groundballs.
The Flying Fleet mustered a 4-0 run to shave the deficit to five, 15-10, powered by three goals from Burns.
Junior Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) played selfless offense by dishing out six assists, including three in the last 11:57 while LMC salted the game with a trio of LeCompte goals and a pair from Gregg.
Junior Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) saved 11 shots and had a game-high six groundballs.
The Bobcats forced 17 turnovers.
LMC travels to UVa.-Wise Wednesday, March 4 at 4 p.m. in Wise, Va.
