Women's Lacrosse Falls in Opener at Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. --- Sophomore Peyton LeCompte netted two goals and senior Mia Emmerson recorded 21 saves, but the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team fell in its season opener to Young Harris, 19-4, Saturday afternoon in Young Harris, Ga.

The Mountain Lions (3-0) remain perfect on the season after Erika Cross and Maddie Peek combined for nine goals. The Bobcats (0-1) had four players with two groundballs or more.

Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) set a career high in saves with her effort.

YHC jumped out to a 7-0 lead after a hat trick from Peek.

LMC's Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) and Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) scored to cut the deficit to five, 7-2.

Senior Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) and LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) earned the assists, respectively.

LeCompte notched her first goal of the season with 2:08 remaining in the opening half.

She struck again with 2:40 on the clock in the second.

Sophomore Christy Caton (High Springs, Fla.) registered two draw controls in her Bobcat debut.

LMC jumps into Conference Carolinas play when it travels to Pfeiffer Friday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. in Misenheimer, N.C.
