BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Sophomore Peyton LeCompte powered the offense with five goals and Constance Madden provided five assists while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team staved off Emmanuel (Ga.), 14-9, on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Bobcats (2-2, 1-1 CC) used a 15-save performance from senior Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) while Callie Gregg (Roanoke, Va.) led the team with three draw controls. The Lions (4-4, 0-3) saw Savannah Gratz turn in a hat trick.

The contest ended with near-blinding conditions while a snow and rain mix that started with eight minutes to go.

Madden (Stuart, Fla.) made her presence known early and often after scoring twice and dishing out an assist while LMC held a 4-1 lead after 13:35 of play.

EC's Hanna Hernandez responded with a goal 12 seconds later.

Gregg and LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) netted goals in a 62-seconds pan, pushing the lead to four, 6-2.

Coach Lexi King's offense kept aggressive with a pair of goals at the 7:25 and 7:03 mark, respectively, while the defense held strong and didn't allow a goal in the final 10:36 of the first half.

The Lions took advantage of a goal from Aleah Marijanich early in the second, 8-4.

LMC responded loudly with a 5-0 run in a span of 7:26. Madden was responsible for three assists and a goal while LeCompte scored twice.

Freshman Christy Caton (High Springs, Fla.) and junior Sara Henderson (Huntersville, N.C.) scored during the spurt.

EC retorted with a 5-0 run of its own, powered goals from Tara Larson.

Larson led all players with 11 draw controls.

Following a timeout, senior Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) delivered the knockout blow with a goal with 2:27 remaining while the defense played tough and shutting out EC over the final 10:45.

Sophomore Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) paced the team with four groundballs.

The Bobcats travel to Coker Thursday, March 10 at 1 p.m. in Hartsville, S.C.
