Women's Lacrosse Concludes Season in Quarterfinals

BELMONT, N.C. --- Senior Mia Emmerson made 11 saves and Peyton LeCompte scored a pair of goals while the No. 6 seeded Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team saw its season end to No. 3 Belmont Abbey, 17-6, in a Conference Carolinas Quarterfinal at Alumni Field Tuesday afternoon in Belmont, N.C.

The Crusaders (11-6) advance to the CC Semifinals against No. 2 Mount Olive Saturday in Gaffney, S.C. The Bobcats (5-12) saw Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) and four seniors end their storied careers.

Along with Emmerson, Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.), Kate Brandon (Charlotte, N.C.), Ashley Ritter (Vero Beach, Fla.) and Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) will graduate in the coming weeks from LMC.

Junior Callie Gregg (Roanoke, Va.) gave the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead while Drake earned the assist.

BAC responded with a pair of goals in a 22-second span.

LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) notched her 51st goal on the season to tie the contest at two.

Sophomore Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) tallied a goal with 15:16 remaining in the first half.

LeCompte struck again 21 seconds into play in the second.

Tracy and Drake scored LMC's final two goals, respectively. Junior Chartella Taylor (Winston-Salem, N.C.) caused four turnovers.

Emmerson currently leads the nation in saves with 190.
