BOONE, N.C. – Peyton LeCompte and Sara Henderson both registered six points each to help lead the Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team to an 18-9 victory over Lee University Saturday. The victory is the first for the Bobcats this season as they improve to 1-2 in 2017.
In addition to the performances by LeCompte and Henderson Saturday, six other Bobcats had at least one point. Constance Madden, Anna Lingle, Callie Gregg and Tiffany Laster all posted goals in the victory, while Olivia Gilleland and Cheyenne Warrick tallied assists in the contest.
LMC earned the edge in groundballs Saturday 34-28, and won 18 of 29 draw controls. Henderson led Lees-McRae with five ground balls, and LeCompte led the way with eight draw controls on the afternoon.
Dayna Decesare picked up her first career victory after stopping three shots by Lee. Decesare's win improves her record to 1-2 on the season.
The Bobcats will look to win their second game in a row next Saturday when they travel to Chowan for a non-conference contest. The start time for that contest is set for 3:30 p.m.
