SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Peyton LeCompte scored a team-high six goals to help lead the Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory over Converse College Saturday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C. By virtue of the win and a tiebreaking coin toss, the Bobcats earned a spot in the Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse tournament.
In addition to the performance from LeCompte, the Bobcats had four other multi-point performances in the victory. Constance Madden and Sara Henderson both two goals and two assists, while Callie Gregg (2g, 1a) and Tiffany Laster (3a) both chipped in three points each.
Samantha Thomson ended up getting the win in goal for the Bobcats despite not starting the contest. Thomson, who came in to relieve starter Dayna Decesare with just over six minutes gone in the first half, made 11 saves in 19 opportunities to pick up her first career victory.
The Bobcats, whose record is now 5-9 overall and 3-7 in conference action, will have to wait to find out who their opponent will be in the first round of the conference tournament. LMC, which will be the No. 6 seed regardless, could face Limestone, Belmont Abbey or Mount Olive depending upon the results later this afternoon and tonight. Regardless of LMC's opponent, the Bobcats will travel to their opponent's home field on April 26 with the start time not yet determined.
