BANNER ELK, N.C. – Fresh off back-to-back five win seasons, the Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team will open its 2018 season Saturday afternoon at Tusculum. The Bobcats and Pioneers are scheduled to get underway at noon.

Report on the Returners – Lees-McRae returns most of its players from the 2017 for this new campaign. Four of the team's top five scorers from last spring return with all four scoring 20 or more points. Additionally, the Bobcats also return both of their goalkeepers in Dayna Decesare and Samantha Thompson.

New Faces in the Green & Gold – LMC has six newcomers on its roster for this season. Three of the six new Bobcats hail from North Carolina with the other three coming from Virginia, Georgia and Florida.

Preseason Prediction – The Bobcats were selected to finish fifth in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released last month. Peyton LeCompteSara Henderson and Tiffany Laster were selected as players to watch for Lees-McRae this spring.

About Tusculum – Since becoming a program in 2015, the Pioneers have posted a pair of double figure win seasons out of three campaigns. However, Tusculum went 5-12 overall and 3-5 in SAC play in 2017. The Pioneers will have a veteran-laden team with 16 of 19 players on their roster having started at least once last season.

Series History vs. Opponent – Lees-McRae has faced Tusculum just once previously. That meeting occurred during the 2016 season in Greeneville. The Pioneers came out on top in that contest winning by a score of 16-10.
