BANNER ELK, N.C. – 12 days after opening its 2018 season at Tusculum, the Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team will kick off its conference schedule Thursday when it travels to Southern Wesleyan. The start time for Thursday's contest is set for 4 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats dropped a 17-5 decision at Tusculum on February 3rd. LMC had seven players make their collegiate debuts in that contest, and four different players registered at least one point on that day.
Senior Starting Strong – Entering her final season as a Bobcat, Tiffany Laster started her senior campaign well. Laster scored two of the team's five goals against Tusculum, while also leading the team in shots on goal (3), ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (3).
Getting a Win – If the Bobcats can knock off the Warriors Thursday it will mark the first time that the program won its conference opener since 2015. During that season, Lees-McRae defeated Erskine 21-12 on the road.
Building confidence on the road – With five of its first six games on the road this season, Lees-McRae will need to find some magic away from Banner Elk. LMC went 1-7 on the road last season with that victory coming at Converse in late April.
About Southern Wesleyan – 2018 is the inaugural season for Southern Wesleyan women's lacrosse. The Warriors fell in their debut to Oklahoma Baptist by a score of 13-1 on Feb. 3. The goal for SWU in that game came from Abigail Welch.
