BANNER ELK, N.C. – After a couple of schedule adjustments due to weather, the Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team will play its first home game of the 2018 season Friday afternoon as it welcomes Converse to Banner Elk. Friday's game, which will be played on the practice field next to Williams Gymnasium due to unplayable field conditions at Tate Field, is slated to get underway at 4 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats fell on the road at Mount Olive last Saturday by the score of 22-1. The loss moved LMC's record to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in league action in 2018.
Count on Connie – One part of LMC's squad that has been consistent this spring has been the play of Constance Madden. Madden is the lone Bobcat to score at least one point in all five games this season. Overall, Madden has scored six goals to go along with two assists for a team-high eight points in 2018.
Back Home in Banner Elk – As mentioned earlier, the Bobcats will open their home schedule when they face off against the Valkyries Friday. Lees-McRae will hope to replicate its success at home it had last season as it went 4-3 in home contests.
About Converse – The Valkyries come into Friday's matchup with Lees-McRae with a record of 2-7 overall and 0-4 in conference action. Converse's victories have both come at home after defeating Columbia (S.C.) in February and Ave Maria earlier this month. Individually, senior Brittni Jones leads the way with 28 goals and one assist. Her 28 goals are the sixth-most by a player in the conference this season.
Series Rewind – The all-time series between Converse and Lees-McRae is split right down the middle with each program notching five wins since the first meeting back in 2009. LMC, however, has gotten the better of Converse as of late winning the last three matchups including a 12-11 victory last season in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
