Strong Second Half lifts Emmanuel past Lees-McRae Tuesday, 23-18

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team trailed Emmanuel College by just one goal at halftime Tuesday in its Conference Carolinas matchup. The Lions, however, outscored the Bobcats 12-7 in the final 30 minutes to pull away and win the contest, 23-18. The loss pushes LMC's record to 1-10 overall and 1-8 in league action.

Overall, eight different players registered points for Lees-McRae against the Lions. Senior Tiffany Laster scored seven points by herself with four goals and three assists. The duo of Peyton LeCompte and Beth Haynes also scored four goals each. Anna Lingle, Sydney Starkey, Sara Henderson also scored goals on the day.

Sophomore Samantha Thomson ended up taking the loss in goal for the Bobcats. The Denver, Colorado native, who made nine saves on the day Tuesday, saw her record dip to 0-4 on the season.

As a team, LMC's 18 goals are a new season-high. It marks the most goals for the team since March 27, 2017 when the Bobcats also scored 18 goals in a win over Erskine.

The Bobcats will close out their 2018 season Friday night when they host Belmont Abbey at Tate Field. First draw is set for 7 p.m.
