Bobcats start 2019 season hosting Keiser on Sunday

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team will open the 2019 season on Sunday (Feb. 10) facing Keiser University at the Lees-McRae practice field. Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. Video and live stats will be available at www.lmcbobcats.com.

About the Bobcats - The Bobcats return eight players from last year's squad in junior midfielder Beth Haynes, sophomore attack Madi Barry, junior attack Olivia Gilleland, senior defender Kat Reeves, senior defender Aley Shepard, junior midfielder Patterson Jones, sophomore defender Hope Allen and junior goalkeeper Samantha Thomson. Lees-McRae went 1-11 a year ago, and 1-9 in Conference Carolinas play with a 12-3 win over Southern Wesleyan on Feb. 15, 2018.

About Keiser - The Seahawks open their 2019 campaign at St. Andrews on Saturday (Feb. 9) before coming to Banner Elk. Keiser is ranked No. 5 in the NAIA preseason top 10 coaches' poll. Keiser went 12-5 a season ago, and advanced to the first round of the NAIA Invitational where they fell to Lawrence Tech (Mich.) 16-12.

Series History vs. Keiser - This will be the first-ever meeting between Lees-McRae and Keiser University in women's lacrosse.

Up Next - The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday (Feb. 23) at Tusculum. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m.
