Lady Bobcats Fall at SAPC

Meghan McAuliffe scored the game-winning goal and assisted on the insurance tally as the St. Andrews Presbyterian College women's soccer team defeated Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference rival Lees-McRae 3-1 on Saturday.

The Lady Knights improved to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the CVAC; while the Lady Bobcats fell to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Rachel Hanna put the Lady Knights on the board early with a goal in the fifth minute. Chrisy Stapleton crossed the ball to Hanna who made no mistake giving the home side the early lead.

After halftime, McAuliffe scored on a penalty kick in the 49th minute; just barely beating an out stretched Anita Hekman in the Lady Bobcats goal. McAuliffe then assisted Kiersten Durst on a corner kick in the 56th minute.

Maribeth Novak broke up the Lady Knights' Garrison Burton's shutout bid in the 89th minute, corralling a loose ball within the 18 yard box and drilling a shot past Burton.

Freshman Cameron Joyce made the first start of her collegiate career earning five saves.

The Bobcats will host Limestone Tuesday evening at 5:00p.m.
