Crusaders Too Much for Lady Bobcats

BANNER ELK, NC--The Belmont Abbey Crusaders improved to a perfect 10-0 in Conference Carolinas play this evening, topping the Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats 4-0 at a rain soaked Tate Field. The Lady Bobcats fall to 5-14, (3-8 Conference Carolinas), while the Crusaders improve to 15-4 overall.

Melissa Daniels put the visitors on the board first with Danielle Kubinski drawing an assist in the 36th minute. Lauren Ware scored the first of two on the evening just three minutes later as the Crusaders took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Ware extended the Abbey's lead to three with her second of the game in the 68th minute, and assisted Lakesha Bell's insurance marker in the 89th minute, to give the freshman a five point game.

Brittany Bolton (Roanoke, VA) withstood a barrage of shots throughout the game, registering 16 saves in the contest while her counterpart Anna Donaldson picked up four saves in the Abbey net.

The Lady Bobcats will look to close out the 2007 season on a winning note, traveling to South Carolina State for a non-conference contest Friday evening.
