BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team spent a few hours Friday, October 17th volunteering at the Watauga County Humane Society to give the staff some much needed aide.
Team members cleaned out dog and cat cages, cleaned the outdoor
area for dogs, helped to unload a supply truck, took the dogs for
walk, but most importantly they gave the animals some love and
"It was a great to see the girls giving back to the community," assistant coach Anna Betton said. "What we were able to accomplish as a team in just a couple hours, would have taken the Humane Society staff several days to complete. It was an enjoyable and rewarding experience for us. Even the girls who don't like animals were in the puppy pin at the end of the day!"
"It was a really rewarding experience because I love animals," goalie Marissa Middleton said. "Being around all the dogs reminded me of my pets back home."
Teammate Danielle Lindquist said, "I loved getting to help even if it makes the smallest difference."
