Splawn Participants In NCAA Student Athlete Development Coaches Forum

BANNER ELK, N.C. - Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcat senior defensive standout, Ashley Splawn, took part in the NCAA Student Athlete Development Coaches Forum on May 27-29th in Lake Buena, Vista Florida.

The objective of the forum is to provide a three-phase coaching development opportunity to students interested in becoming coaches in the sport of Bowling, Soccer, Swimming & Diving or Wrestling after graduating from college. Forum content included educating participants in the areas of program management, eligibility, budgeting, student-athlete well being, diversity, championship play, committee structure etc.

Splawn was among 42 student athletes from 41 schools represented at the forum. She was the only representative from the Conference Carolinas.

Splawn learned the basics of day-to-day operations of being an NCAA coach.

"My experience there gave me the chance to explore and enhance my knowledge of about the administrative areas of intercollegiate athletics," Splawn said. "Being a part of the forum gave me the chance to develop my personal plan and take action into achieving my goals and dreams."

Splawn has taken away great adive from the forum: It's not who you know, but who knows you.

"Seizing the moment and taking advantage of the opportunity, while at the forum, has truly been an experience, and I am blessed to have been a part of it," Splawn said.
