Rich Earns Women's Soccer Player of the Week Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Lees-McRae's Vickie Rich (5-3-0 overall, 3-0-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's soccer Player of the Week during week number five in the 2009 season.

The sophomore midfielder led the Bobcats to a 2-0 week with five goals.

Rich started the week off with two goals against Ferrum College. Her first goal came in the 18th minute when she made a long run down the line and cut in to launch a shot for the goal. Rich added her second goal in the second half when she split two defenders for the goal. Her first goal was the game-winning goal.

In the team's second match against Coker, Rich scored a hat trick in the first half. Her first goal came just two minutes into the match, and her second goal was the game winner.

Rich has the Bobcats off to a 3-0 conference start and currently on a five-match win streak. She had five goals in the two games for a total of ten points. On the season she has eight goals and one assist in seven games for 17 total points. She leads the team in points (17), goals scored (8), and game-winning goals (3).
