BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. --- Vickie Rich (Arlington Heights, Ill.) tallied two assists, and Katelyn Custer (Mooresville, N.C.) scored her first match-winner of the season to lead the Lees-McRae College women's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout win over Montreat College on Wednesday night.

Lees-McRae (8-2) recorded its second straight clean sheet, out-shooting the Cavaliers (0-8) by a 40-1 margin, including a 25-0 advantage in the first half. Custer, MaryBeth Sullivan (Greensboro, N.C.), and Emily Jones (Leonardtown, Md.) each tallied a goal and an assist, as Katy McGee (Hudson, Fla.) notched her second goal of the campaign. Brooke Santerre (Port Republic, Md.) added one assist while Rich tallied a season-high two helpers.

Custer opened the scoring early in the 34th minute, volleying a cross from Santerre into the top corner after Rich fed Santerre via the throw-in. McGee doubled the advantage in the 36th minute, sending a volley into the bottom corner off a corner kick by Rich to send the Lady Bobcats into the interval with a 2-0 lead.

Jones stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 55th minute off a well-placed through ball by Custer and a pass from Sullivan, taking the pass and slotting the finish into the far bottom corner for her second goal of the season. Sullivan notched her sixth goal of the season midway through the 56th minute, driving in a loose ball in the area off a pass from Jones.

Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Saturday when the Lady Bobcats host Pfeiffer University to resume their Conference Carolinas schedule. The match is slated for 2 p.m. at Tate Field.
