INDIANAPOLIS --- The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team is ranked among the nation's top 10 teams in a pair of categories, and is listed in a total of 11 individual and team categories, announced NCAA officials Monday with the release of the NCAA Division II women's soccer statistics.
Lees-McRae (10-2-1, 9-0 Conference Carolinas) has earned a result from each of its last 11 matches, posting a 10-0-1 record in that span to open conference play with an unblemished 9-0 record. The Bobcats enter the week ranked sixth in the nation in scoring offense (3.0) and eighth in shutout percentage (0.692), while also being listed 24th in winning percentage (0.808) and 30th in goals against average (0.681).
Sophomore MaryBeth Sullivan (Greensboro, N.C.) enters the week ranked 16th in the nation in match-winning goals (four) after delivering a pair of decisive strikes against Belmont Abbey College and Mount Olive College to give the Bobcats a two-game lead in the conference standings with three contests left on the schedule. The 5-7 forward is also ranked 23rd in total goals (10), 27th in goals per match (0.769), and 44th in points per contest (1.69).
Freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn Briggs (Oviedo, Fla.) has been tremendous between the pipes for the Bobcats this season, entering the week ranked 31st in goals against average (0.655) and 79th in save percentage (0.800) after recording her seventh and eighth clean sheets of the campaign last week. Senior Vickie Rich (Arlington Heights, Ill.) is also ranked 41st in the nation in assists per match (0.46), while freshman Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) is listed 50th in goals per match (0.692) and 68th in points per contest (1.54).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Bobcats host Erskine College in a conference matchup at Tate Field. The match is slated to kick off at 5 p.m. following the Bobcats' senior night festivities.
