KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team has received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2010-2011 academic year, announced NSCAA officials Wednesday. Lees-McRae posted a combined grade point average of 3.14 last year to garner the award for the fourth consecutive season.

Lees-McRae, Coker College, King College, and Limestone College each garnered the award to represent Conference Carolinas, as Coker led the way with its 3.31 GPA while Lees-McRae posted a GPA of 3.14. King and Limestone each posted a mark of 3.08. The Bobcats posted perhaps the best season in program history this fall, capturing the Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament titles to punch the school's first-ever ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

Lees-McRae is expected to return 17 letter-winners from this year's Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament championship squad, including Daktronics all-Southeast Region selections Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) and MaryBeth Sullivan (Greensboro, N.C.).
