Nobbs Paces Women's Soccer to Rout of Emmanuel (Ga.), 4-0

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Lees-McRae junior Rachael Nobbs tallied her first goal of the season and dished out two assists while the women's soccer team battered Emmanuel (Ga.), 4-0, in a Conference Carolinas match on a cold Friday evening for Senior Day in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Bobcats (6-10-1, 5-5-1) cranked out an eye-popping 33 shots while 24 LMC players saw action tonight. The Lions (4-13, 2-9) provided a punchless offense that produced only 3 shots while goalie Marina Eisenhut racked up 15 saves.

Prior to the match, LMC honored its four seniors; Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.), Ariana Smith (Jackson, N.J.) and Kaitlyn Briggs (Oviedo, Fla.) Nobbs (North Charleston, S.C.) is a junior, but is graduating early.

"Not enough can be said about these four girls and what they have meant to Lees-McRae College and this program. Rachael, Meagan, Ariana and Kait are everything you can ask for in teammates and people and we are definitely going to miss them in the future," praised head coach Nick Whiting. "They are a tremendous group of young women who are going to be successful in everything they do after graduation. We are glad that they were able to get a win on senior day – the rest of the team definitely wanted to deliver that for them and I couldn't be any more proud of their efforts today."

Sophomore Cheyenne Warrick (Pikeville, N.C.) put the Bobcats on the board with a blast to the lower left following a Thornton corner kick and a touch from Nobbs in the 10th minute.

Nobbs connected on a 15-yard blast to the left side at the 19:41 mark to make it 2-0.

Junior Erica Allen (Norton, Ohio) got in the mix when she scored on a chip shot over Eisenhut after a Nobbs pass less than two minutes into the second half.

Freshman Kelsey Twigg (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) capped off the scoring when she corralled a Mallory Overholt (Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada) pass and buried it from up the middle.

Briggs earned one save in her final home career match.

The Bobcats claimed the No. 7 seed in the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship and will travel to No. 2 Pfeiffer Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Misenheimer, N.C.
