MARS HILL, N.C. --- Senior Sarah Mahar scored the matches' lone goal and freshman Alexis Feely produced a clean slate while the Lees-McRae women's soccer team blanked Mars Hill, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Mars Hill, N.C.
The Bobcats (1-3) earned their first win after Feely (Wake Forest, N.C.) tallied her first collegiate win. The Lions (0-4) remain winless on the young season despite placing seven shots on goal.
Mahar (Jacksonville, Fla.) duplicated her success from last season when she scored the matches' lone goal against Mars Hill in 2014.
She muscled past a couple of defenders and scored on a breakaway at the 15:19 mark.
Both teams amassed 13 shots while five LMC players recorded two shots a piece.
MHU outshot the Bobcats 7-3 in the second half.
The Lions saw Hannah Russell and Breona Tate combine for six shots, but Feely stayed strong and stopped all four that were on frame.
LMC hosts Southern Wesleyan Saturday, Sep. 19 at 3 p.m., opening Conference Carolinas play at Tate Field.
