MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team fell to the University of Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas play by a score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
Mount Olive had the bulk of the offensive chances during Saturday's contest. UMO netted three straight goals to open the match, which proved to be enough to knock off the Bobcats. Lees-McRae's goal came off the foot of Corby Bailey in the 66th minute when she ricocheted a shot off the crossbar into the back of the net. For Bailey, it marked her first career goal. Sophomore Cassandra Gregg accounted for the other shot on goal for the Bobcats on Saturday.
Hope Sanborn made the start in goal for the Bobcats on Saturday. Sanborn, who ended up taking the loss moving her record to 0-4, made eight saves in 11 opportunities in a little over 62 minutes of action. Makayla Willets also saw some time in goal as well and made three saves on the three shots she faced.
The Bobcats will return to action on Wednesday when they host North Greenville University at Tate Field. Kickoff for that contest is set for 5 p.m.
