Swimming hits the road to compete against Barton and Chowan this weekend

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College swimming programs will be back in action this weekend with a two-day tri-meet against league foes Barton and Chowan on Friday and Saturday. Friday's action will begin at 1 p.m. and Saturday's is scheduled to get underway at noon.

Last Time Out - The Bobcats closed out their first meet of the 2019-20 campaign last weekend in Kingsport. Lees-McRae had a strong showing in its season debut as the women's team placed eighth among nine schools and the men's squad finished third among seven institutions. Individually, Lees-McRae also picked up its first event victory of the season as Arsham Mirzaei won the 100 yard freestyle on Saturday.

Coach's Take – "The meet will give us opportunities to compete two days in row, which helps with preparation for our early season invitational in November," said LMC Head Coach Sean Weddell. "It allows us to go head-to-head with two conference opponents and good teams. We also have the opportunity to swim some fun races like 50s of stroke and 100 IM this weekend as well, which are not common events in dual meets.  I would like to see the team drop time in events but more importantly swim smart and technical races."
