Tennis Signs Christine Vanard

Women's Tennis Coach Paul Goode is proud to announce the signing of Christine Vanard to a National Letter of Intent for the fall of 2007. The Mt. Tabor High School senior, signed her NLI last week in a ceremony held at Mt. Tabor located in Winston-Salem, NC during the NCAA's early signing period. Mt. Tabor Coach Ralph Clingerman, friends, family and school officials were all in attendance.

"We're excited to have Christine join our team. Christine has the talent, character, and work ethic every coach looks for in a player," commented Goode. "I think she is one of the top recruits in our conference, and I expect her to make an immediate impact. I look forward to working with her next fall."

Vanard was the number one player for Mt. Tabor's girls' tennis team during the fall 2006 season and helped lead the team to its first Central Piedmont Conference title in 12 years. Vanard went undefeated in the Conference during the 2006 season, which earned her Central Piedmont Player of the Year honors as well as Mt. Tabor's Most Valuable Player award.

Vanard, who has been playing tennis for just four years, is currently ranked 8th in the state of North Carolina in the Girls' 18 United States Tennis Association (USTA) singles' division.
