CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team swept both singles and doubles play en route to a 9-0 win over Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday afternoon.
Queens' (6-2, 3-0 CC) duo of Christina Rustscheff and Erin Williams opened the day with an 8-1 win over Lees-McRae's (0-5, 0-3 CC) pairing of Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) and Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), as Morgan Roberts and Elena Mileva defeated Kelsey Hiatt (Mt. Airy, N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.), 8-0. Queens was awarded the third doubles flight by default.
Rustscheff gave Queens a 4-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Peagram at No. 1 singles, as Roberts defeated Wohlers, 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the win for the Royals. Amanda Poole notched a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hiatt, while Williams defeated Harris, 6-1, 6-0. The Royals were awarded the fifth and sixth singles flights by default.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Thursday when the Bobcats host Lincoln Memorial University in non-conference play at noon.
