The Lees-McRae College women's track & field team took to the track Friday and Saturday, January 26-27, at the Niswonger Invitational at ETSU in Johnson City, TN.
The meet showcased some of the world's top collegiate, post
collegiate, and professional athletes. Over 1,100 athletes from 60
teams competed in the two-day event including athletes from Clemson
and Virginia Tech as well as some professional athletes from
Reebok, Total Sports and others.
The top performance of the meet for the Lady Bobcats belonged to Dana Lindholm (Weaverville, NC/North Buncombe HS) in the women's 5,000m run. Lindholm completed the race in 19:23.65 to set a personal best and finish 15th overall in the event.
Two strong performances were registered by freshman Ashley May (Chilhowie, VA/Chilhowie HS) in the women's 1-mile and 800m. May crossed the finish line in 19th place in the mile and in 25th place out of 61 competitors in the 800m.
Also competing well for the Lady Bobcats was Gina Valenti (Washington, NC/Washington Sr. HS) in the 5,000m and sophomore Jenny Hurd (Danbury, NC/North Stokes HS) in the 800m.
The Bobcat women's track & field team will compete again on February 8th at the Valentine Invitational at Appalachian State University.
