Bass Sets Two Indoor School Records at Appalachian Invite
The Lees-McRae College women's track and field team competed in the Appalachian Indoor Open Track Meet over the weekend for their second meet of the indoor season and first meet since coming back from Christmas Break.
Crystal Bass (Branfield, Fla.) set two indoor school records; one in the shot put with a distance of 9.79 meters (32' 01.5") and the other in the weight throw with a distance of 8.89 meters (29' 00.5").
Leading the way for the Lady Bobcats was Shantra McCoy (Stafford, Va.) with an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 32'04.25" and a ninth place finish in the 55meter hurdles with a time of 9.29.
"We had some great performances and some not so good performances," head coach Ley Fletcher said. "As a team I was very proud of our effort after the Christmas Break. We will shake off the rust and train very hard the next two weeks and run better at the ETSU Invitational."
The team's next meet is January 30th at the East Tennessee State University Invite in Johnson City, Tenn.
