BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's track team competed in the ASU Valentine Open and the Carolina Open back-to-back days over the weekend.
Jenny Hurd led the women's track team at Appalachian State by winning the 500-meter run with a time of 1:29:04.
"I felt like tonight as a team we had our best meet of the year," head coach Ley Fletcher said after the ASU meet. "We had a lot of athletes set personal bests and I believe we finally got aggressive attitudes and competed harder than we have all year."
The combination of Jenny Hurd, Rebecca Foard, Rayne Delutis and Ashley May finished ninth in the women's 4x400-meter relay to lead the team at the UNC meet.
"This was our toughest meet of the year which featured many DI, DII, DIII and NAIA schools with the likes of NC St. and UNC," head coach Ley Fletcher said after the Carolina Open. "We showed up and held our own. I was very proud of the way our team performed against some of the best talent in the nation. We have made great progress during the indoor season that should give us momentum going into the outdoor season."
