Anderson's Sloan Wins Two Events and Lees-McRae Sweeps Pole Vault on Day One of Conference Carolinas Track and Field Championship Meet

BANNER ELK, N.C. - Lauren Sloan won two events for Anderson to give the Lady Trojans the lead, and Lees-McRae swept the medal podium in the women's pole vault to give the Lady Bobcats second after day one of the inaugural Conference Carolinas Track and Field Championship Meet at the Arthur, Lauritsen and Sanders Track and Field Venue.

Sloan took the opening event of the day, the women's shot put, with a distance of 11.99m. Whittney Brewton of Limestone finished second with an 11.67m toss, and Andria Hartsell of Limestone finished third with 10.74m throw.

Sloan turned around with a 37.25m hammer throw to win that event. Durecelle Campbell, also from Anderson, followed with a 35.54m throw, and Limestone's Hartsell took third with a distance of 33.68m.

In the women's pole vault, Lees-McRae's Hannah Trimble, Candice Corbin and Michelle Jonas finished one, two and three respectively to give the Lady Bobcats the podium sweep.

In the women's high jump, Katelyn Rodgers of Anderson won with a height of 1.57m, and Ariel Woodard-Stephens of Mount Olive finished second with a height of 1.52m jump. Anderson's Chelsea Rodgers finished third with a 1.42m jump.

In the final women's event of the day, the 10,000m, Queens' Tanya Zeferjahn won with a 38:40.24 time. St. Andrews' Alyson Trovato finished second with a 39:50.09, and Limestone's Courtney Rankin took third with a 40:31.12 finish.
